PMMI Scholarships

Member Tuition Reimbursement Program

The Member Tuition Reimbursement Program allows staff at member companies to be partially reimbursed for courses taken to further their packaging knowledge. Download the application.

The following PMMI Scholarships are administered by the PMMI Education & Training Foundation and PMMI’s Partner schools are eligible to apply.

Claude S. Breeden Scholarship

The PMMI Education & Training Foundation awards Claude S. Breeden scholarships to students in community colleges and technical school programs that train mechanics and technicians to work with packaging machinery.  Scholarships are presented annually and are renewable.  The recipients are selected by the school's scholarship committee.

PMMI’s Partner schools can download the application and apply by the April 11, 2014 deadline.

The Richard C. Ryan Packaging Education Scholarship

This Scholarship is established by Dorner Mfg. Corp. and administered by the PMMI Education & Training Foundation.  This scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at any of PMMI’s Partner schools

When applying for the scholarship, students must:

  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be majoring in packaging engineering or a related area
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the packaging industry
  • Be currently enrolled and attending a PMMI Partner School
  • Demonstrate extra-curricular involvement, such as athletics
  • Have a recommendation from faculty
  • Have a financial need

Students wishing to apply for this scholarship should write a 500-1,000 word essay describing their interest in the packaging field and their career goals, and submit it with their application. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is May 31, 2014.

  • Download the application
  • Obtain a faculty recommendation and signature
  • Write a 500-1,000 word essay describing your interest in the packaging field and your career goals
  • Obtain your transcripts from a PMMI Partner School indicating a GPA of 3.0 or higher as well as extra-curricular involvement

Enercon Industries' Bill Zito Scholarship

This Scholarship is established by Enercon and administered by the PMMI Foundation.  This scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled at any of PMMI’s Partner schools

When applying for the scholarship, students must:

  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be majoring in packaging engineering or a related area
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the packaging industry
  • Be currently enrolled and attending a PMMI Partner School
  • Demonstrate extra-curricular involvement, such as athletics
  • Have a recommendation from faculty
  • Have a financial need

Enercon Industries is a longtime PMMI member and supplies induction cap sealers and corona treatment systems.

Mark C. Garvey Scholarship

In November of 2006, PMMI established the Mark C. Garvey Scholarship in memory of Mark C. Garvey, past chairman of PMMI and a long-time supporter of packaging education.  Mark was a tireless supporter of packaging education and gave significant time and effort to technical schools across the United States and Canada.

The Mark C. Garvey Scholarship is awarded to PMMI’s Partner schools that demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the packaging industry.

The scholarship is given to one school annually, and the recipient school is selected in fall by the Garvey Family.

Glenn Davis Scholarship

These funds are awarded to community colleges and technical school programs that train mechanics and technicians to work with packaging machinery.  The funds are rotated among the Claude S. Breeden school recipients.

Art Schaefer Scholarship

The A.R. (Art) Schaefer Scholarship is awarded to packaging students who demonstrate a commitment to excellence in the packaging industry.  The scholarship will be awarded to community colleges and technical school programs that demonstrate a significant contribution to packaging education. The funds are rotated among the Claude S. Breeden school recipients.

Travel Scholarships

In order to assist students at PMMI Partner Schools wishing to attend PACK EXPO, PMMI provides them with money to help cover their costs.  PMMI Partner Schools are invited to apply for travel scholarships.  Amount awarded will depend on total requests received with preference given to those participating in the Amazing Packaging Race and the Student Contest, total per student not to exceed $200.00.  Funds must be used for student travel to PACK EXPO.
