PMMI Partners with SPC on PACK EXPO Sustainability Resources
Sustainable Packaging Council to show COMPASS tool at PACK EXPO International 2012
Reston, VA.; July 19, 2012 – GreenBlue’s Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) is the latest industry partner to join PACK EXPO International 2012 (October 28-31; McCormick Place, Chicago). The non-profit will bring its expertise and experience to the show floor this fall.
“Sustainability is a driving force in the packaging and processing industries, and it’s not going anywhere,” said Charles D. Yuska, president & CEO, PMMI, which owns and produces the PACK EXPO trade shows. “SPC is a leader in packaging sustainability, and we’re excited about the work they’re doing to support sustainable practices.”
Located near The Brand Zone in booth, the SPC booth (N-5823) will focus on its COMPASS ® (Comparative Packaging Assessment) tool. COMPASS helps packaging designers make informed decisions about the lifecycle impacts of their designs, factoring in resource consumption, emissions, life-cycle phases and packaging materials. This allows designers to balance the needs of brand, cost and service with environmental performance when faced with a range of options to fulfill new packaging design requests and track progress over time.
“The unprecedented industry access we’ll see at PACK EXPO is something we can’t get anywhere else, and it provides the perfect stage for our COMPASS tool,” said Minal Mistry, Senior Manager, SPC. “We know the SPC and PACK EXPO can help designers more fully realize the impact their products are having on the world and encourage them to think holistically.”
The Sustainable Packaging Coalition® (SPC) is an industry working group dedicated to a more robust environmental vision for packaging. Through strong member support, an informed and science-based approach, supply chain collaborations and continuous outreach, we endeavor to build packaging systems that encourage economic prosperity and a sustainable flow of materials.
