PMMI Introduces Blended Learning Course
Newest option for PMMI Certified Trainers, training managers, and corporate trainers uses blended learning techniques to train the trainers
Reston, Va.; September 26, 2012 — PMMI presents “Blended Learning for Success”, a new, blended learning workshop for training managers, corporate trainers and PMMI Certified Trainers in packaging and processing environments.
“ ‘Blended learning’ refers to using a combination of methodologies for training and education,” says Stephan Girard, Workforce Solutions Manager, PMMI. “A typical blend might include a mixture of face-to-face instruction, a hands-on component, coaching sessions, live online sessions or web-based modules completed at the student’s pace.”
PMMI’s blended learning curriculum comprises a seven-hour program presented in four components occurring over a one-month time frame.
- Pre-work assignment
- Live, online instructor-led class
- Follow-on assignment
- Coaching session
“The structure of the workshop models the concepts we’re exploring,” Girard notes. “Once the program is over, each learner will have an action plan for applying the blended learning design process to his or her own training programs.”
After completing the workshop, students should be able to understand, identify and explain blended learning components and benefits, and apply the principles to create training solutions.
“Research shows that blended learning is a highly-effective approach to training, and that in fact, most adults learn and retain information better in a learning environment that incorporates a variety of methodologies. The more trainers can implement blended learning, the more efficiently and effectively they can train workers to operate the equipment PMMI members sell. That’s a win-win-win for industry, end users and PMMI members,” Girard adds.
The first iteration of Blended Learning for Success will be a live, online session, Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 2:00–4:00 PM (Eastern). Login to the Blended Learning for Success area of the PMMI U course catalog to learn more and to register.
