Exhibitors Lined Up to Challenge Students in Amazing Packaging Race
Reston, VA; October 9, 2012 - Nearly 30 exhibitors have committed to support education and host student challenges for the Amazing Packaging Race, sponsored by ASCO Numatics (Booth N-4834), at PACK EXPO International 2012 (McCormick Place, Chicago; Oct. 28–31). The move puts them in position to engage the students, and make a connection these future industry leaders will remember when they’re out in the workforce.
Maria Ferrante, vice president, Education & Workforce Development, PMMI, calls the Oct. 31 event a unique opportunity for exhibitors as well as students.
“There are a number of ways for students to participate in PACK EXPO, but none of them is as much fun or puts them in such close contact with exhibitors as The Amazing Packaging Race,” Ferrante says. “Students can volunteer to work during the show, they can participate in the annual Student Contest or represent their schools in the education pavilion,” she adds. But she notes that the Amazing Packaging Race — styled upon “The Amazing Race” television show —engages the students on a number of levels as they travel the show floor in teams.
“Exhibitors benefit as much as the students. The students bring an air of fun, excitement and enthusiasm with them, and it’s a great way to make a connection,” Ferrante says.
Held on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at the PACK EXPO International (Oct. 28-31; McCormick Place, Chicago) show, The Amazing Packaging Race is a scavenger hunt-style competition in which teams of students travel the show floor completing challenges at volunteer booths.
“This is The Amazing Packaging Race’s third year, and I’d like to thank the 29 exhibitors who already volunteered to take part in this year’s competition,” Ferrante added. “Those exhibitors participating in the Race benefit not only from the pre-show and onsite promotion, but also from the attention they receive from attendees watching the students in brightly colored shirts bearing their logo try and complete the tasks as well as the many mentions on the Twitter Feed. This event is a win-win for all involved.”
