PMMI’s market research study on Robotics assesses the current use and determines trends of robotics in packaging applications.

Over the next five years, the robotics industry should expect the following trends:

Sixty-two percent (22%) of packagers currently use robots with three or more axes while an additional 21% expect to use robotics on their packaging lines in the next five years.
Robotics usage continues to grow with palletizing and case/carton packaging being the most widely used application for packaging robots.
Robotics is expected to enjoy rapid growth both in primary and secondary lines with reduction in labor costs, improving efficiencies, and increased manufacturing flexibility driving the trend.
More than ninety percent of packagers say robots are successful at performing their jobs and nearly 80% of packagers feel robots are important to their packaging operations.
