PMMI offers four membership categories: 

• General | Supplier | Materials | Processing 

Requirements for each category are outlined below:

General Membership

Machinery manufacturers within the United States and Canada who:

1. Are engaged in the manufacturing of packaging and packaging-related converting equipment as defined in Section 3(a) and 3(b) of PMMI's Bylaws
2. Have been engaged in the activity in the United States and/or Canada for a period of two years prior to application
3. Have minimum annual sales of at least US$500,000 of eligible equipment.
4. Have applied for membership and for all services and privileges of membership and have been elected by the affirmative vote of the majority of the Board of Directors.
5. Have agreed to pay all fees, dues and assessments required.

As a general member of PMMI, you receive the following:

• Priority selection, discounted space rates or pavilion package rates at PACK EXPO tradeshows.
• Discounted advertisement rates for Packaging Machinery Technology.
• Access to the industry’s most pertinent statistics and surveys, including the Shipments & Outlook Study and the Packaging Machinery Purchasing Plans Survey.
• Access to extensive global market research for international research and networking opportunities with other PMMI members, end users and industry experts. 
• Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

Supplier Membership

Original manufacturers of commercially available packaging machinery components, who are not engaged in manufacturing, packaging machinery and packaging-related converting machinery who:

1. Have been in business for two years
2. Have at least $500,000 in component sales per year and
3. Can provide three General Member references.

As a supplier member of PMMI, you receive the following:

• Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
• Access to manufacturers of packaging machinery solutions.
• Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute’s Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
• Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
• Discounted advertisement rates for Packaging Machinery Technology.
• Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

Materials Membership

Original manufacturers of commercially available packaging materials and containers, who are not engaged in manufacturing packaging machinery and packaging-related converting machinery who:

1. Have been in business for two years
2. Have at least $10 million in materials sales per year

As a materials member of PMMI, you receive the following:

• Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
• Access to manufacturers of packaging machinery solutions.
• Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute’s Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
• Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
• Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.
• Discounted advertisement rates for Packaging Machinery Technology.

Processing Membership

Manufacturers of commercially available processing machinery or related equipment but not engaged in manufacturing of packaging machinery or packaging-relating converting equipment are eligible to apply for membership in PMMI as processing members.

Processing membership applicants must be:

1. Engaged in the activity in the United States and/or Canada for a period of two years prior to application.
2. Have minimum annual sales of at least US$500,000 of eligible equipment.
3. Have applied for membership and for all services and privileges of membership and have been elected by the affirmative vote of the majority of the Board of Directors.
4. Have agreed to pay all fees, dues and assessments required.

As a processing member of PMMI, you receive the following:

• Priority booth selection at PACK EXPO trade shows.
• Access to manufacturers of packaging machinery solutions.
• Networking opportunities with all PMMI members during the Institute’s Executive Leadership Conferences, Annual Meetings and other educational programs.
• Access to key market research and packaging trends data.
• Discounted advertisement rates for Packaging Machinery Technology.
• Use of the PMMI logo for marketing purposes.

The Application Process

PMMI's Board of Directors considers new member applications twice a year. Applications received from December 1 through May 31 are considered at the Board's Fall Meeting; applications received from June 1 through November 30 are considered at the Board's Spring Meeting. PMMI reviews each application and forwards copies to members of PMMI's Membership Committee.

Plant Review For General Membership Applicants

A plant review will be conducted for all companies applying a General Members.

A member of the Membership Committee, PMMI staff, or a selected PMMI member visits the applicant's plant. The applicant is notified who will conduct the plant review and a timely schedule is arranged. All reviews must be completed prior to the next meeting of the Membership Committee.

During the plant visit, the reviewer verifies the information on the application, answers questions about PMMI, discusses PMMI programs and services and encourages the applicant, if accepted, to become fully involved in PMMI. PMMI members feel strongly that the Institute's goals and objectives can be achieved only by an active and participating membership.

Dues And Fees

Membership Dues - The Board of Directors sets the dues each year. PMMI invoices members the first of each year.

• General Membership - US$1,500
• Supplier Membership - US$2,000
• Materials Membership - US$2,000
• Processing Membership - US$2,000
