PMMI Community of Practice - Conference at PACK EXPO
PMMI’s Technical Training Community of Practice focused on the vital importance of establishing best practices for training during their session at the Conference at PACK EXPO Las Vegas on Monday, October 15, 2007.
Additionally, they unveiled a Request for Proposal (RFP) template and a Needs Assessment template for OEMs that addresses training needs and communicates how training helps to reduce turn-over, downtime and inefficiency.
The panelists included Community of Practice members, composed of CPG and OEM companies: Kevin Grandey, packaging automation engineer at Pactiv Corporation; Bruce Johnson, training manager at Doboy Inc.; and Peter Losching, lead technical trainer at Langen Packaging Inc. Nancy Cobb, PMMI Certified Trainer Program facilitator, was the moderator for the roundtable discussion.
“Proper training can significantly contribute to the lifetime of machinery and lower the total cost of ownership. However, because it is often unclear which training services are needed or currently available, this important step is often a second thought or completely disregarded during procurement,” says Kevin Grandey. “The RFP template will help companies know what to ask for and to demand higher-quality training in order to increase efficiency and profitability.”
