Question: What is Safety Sampling? 

Answer:   Safety Sampling measures the effectiveness of the supervisor or line manager's safety activities. Rather than using the number of accidents that occur as an indicator, it measures effectiveness before the fact of an accident by taking periodic readings of how safely the employees are working.  Safety Sampling is also a motivational tool.  Each employee finds it important to be working as safely as possible when the sample is taken.  Many organizations who have conducted Safety Samplings report a good improvement in their safety record as a result of the increased interest in safety on the part of the employees.
