PMMI Certified Trainer Program to Host Packaging Industry Roundtable at PACK EXPO Las Vegas
Industry leaders to discuss training best practices and to unveil RFP Template

PMMI announces the Packaging Industry Roundtable and Panel Discussion, hosted by PMMI’s Certified Trainer Program, for the Conference at PACK EXPO. The conference session will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2007 during PACK EXPO Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

During the conference session, panelists will discuss the vital importance of establishing best practices for training. Additionally, they will unveil a Request for Proposal (RFP) template that addresses training needs and communicates how training helps to reduce turn-over, downtime and inefficiency.

Games, Toys and Simulations for Training Adults

Some trainers are hesitant to use games, toys and simulations in their programs, fearing the participants will dismiss them as mere entertainment. Certainly, like any other training method, games, toys and simulations are not without risk. Used in the wrong way at the wrong time, they may do little good. However, used appropriately, they can be an enjoyable and effective way to advance training objectives.

Spotlight on Bosch Packaging’s Doboy Division

Bosch Packaging’s Doboy division has developed a revolutionary, modular approach to technical training. The New Richmond, WI-based packaging machinery manufacturer’s ‘dashboard’ training is a CD-ROM based module that allows Doboy to tailor a training program to meet the specific needs of a customer based on the equipment they have purchased. Using training tools provided in the PMMI Certified Trainer Program, the computer-generated ‘dashboard’ provides a menu of system and machine information, including training files, instruction manuals, parts files, electrical schematics and manufacturer’s literature. This resource system serves in tandem with Doboy’s PMMI Certified Trainers to deliver a truly unique and effective training experience. In fact, “many customers have actually cited this aspect as a deciding reason for their purchase,” according to Doboy.
