PACK EXPO International and Healthcare Packaging EXPO Announcement

August 5, 2020: After thoughtful consultation with our Board of Directors, PMMI has made the difficult decision to cancel its in-person PACK EXPO International and Healthcare Packaging EXPO in Chicago this year.  The PMMI Board determined that due to the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and the current state and local regulations, it was not possible to have a safe and productive event for attendees and exhibitors.

Best Practices for Conducting vFATs

This virtual town hall, moderated by Tom Egan, vice president, industry services on Thursday, August 27 at 11 a.m. EST will explore the best practices set out in the OpX Leadership Network work product, share examples and convey leadership guidance to assist in executing vFATs.

NAM Resources

PMMI is an active member of The Council of Manufacturing Associations at NAM, The National Association of Manufacturers. NAM has advised that we are at a critical juncture for additional COVID-19 relief for manufacturers. Talks between House and Senate leaders and the White House are deadlocked, putting at risk needed liability protections for businesses, tax relief for struggling firms and necessary enhancements to the Paycheck Protection Program. Among the many beneficial provisions of the American Renewal Action Plan is a request to ensure that tax incentives for equipment purchases remain*NEW*

Please consider the American Renewal Action Plan

If you agree, you can help. Please call your members of Congress and ask them to support a COVID-19 relief package that contains these important provisions.

To help keep these priorities at the forefront as negotiations continue, the NAM staff has prepared a tool to facilitate your efforts. Click here to use this tool, and follow these steps:

  1. Go to the page linked above
  2. Review the talking points listed on that page
  3. Enter your phone number using the tool on the right
  4. Answer the phone call you will receive, and follow the instructions to complete the call with your member of Congress’s office
  5. Upon completion, share this tool with colleagues, employees, suppliers or on social media

For those who prefer, there is also a tool for you to email those offices. We hope you will help ensure that Congress and the Administration delivers the needed relief to millions of manufacturing families nationwide.

The NAM launched “Creators Respond” to aid the relief effort by identifying inventory and production capabilities of emergency supplies, and to educate and engage the public on how the industry is responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. NAM has now launched the next stage: “Creators Respond—We Can Make It” offering more resources to help highlight manufacturers’ unprecedented efforts to aid people in need:

  • Count Us In” is a new video that connects today’s mobilization to our World War II legacy and highlights manufacturing’s leading role in this fight.
  • NAM’s recently relaunched Instagram account, is rolling out a series of illustrations honoring the everyday heroes stepping up for us all.

Here is a snapshot of emerging state and local emergency orders affecting manufacturing operations from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).

Manufacturers Win Essential Business Designations

The federal government declared manufacturing an essential industry. The NAM is helping members address the restrictions in Pennsylvania (see letter to the governor here) while working with partners in other states to help ensure manufacturers' ability to deliver their essential work.

You can help improve the guidance that states are adopting by emailing [email protected] and [email protected] with examples of why all manufacturing and supply chain is critical, life-sustaining infrastructure.
