PMMI Media Group’s redesigned websites offer an enhanced UX and behind-the-scenes efficiencies


In the fast-changing world of digital publishing, one of the biggest challenges for content creators is keeping on top of technology and design trends across online platforms. Today’s consumers have so many media options that providing the best possible user experience is imperative to both survival and growth.

In 2019 PMMI Media Group embraced the challenge of updating their six business-to-business media websites and recently launched newly designed sites for their flagship brand, Packaging World, as well as Automation World, Healthcare Packaging, ProFood World, and OEM. Spanish-language website launched earlier in 2019.

With over 224,000 monthly visits to their sites and nearly 700 digital advertisers, the company’s quest to provide the best user experience offered a lot of upside for both readers and advertisers. PMMI Media Group is a division of PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies. The media division’s websites feature industry information for manufacturing professionals involved with packaging, food and beverage processing and industrial automation.

Led by Director of Website Project Management, Jen Krepelka, PMMI Media Group’s in-house team researched available site builder platforms and also considered using their own digital designers and developers. The team was looking for a variety of improvements, including an enhanced mobile experience, faster load time and better viewability of ads. Equally important were the behind-the-scenes benefits for editorial and production departments.

Ultimately, the group chose a platform that was specifically designed for media companies. Jen Krepelka shares her enthusiasm: “Our new content management system offers a much more intelligent publishing process that streamlines content posting and frees our editors to spend more time doing what they do best.
