PMMI Skills Fund: Delta ModTech Reaches New Students by Sponsoring a Robotics Team

Need:

The tightening job market, combined with the Delta ModTech’s continuous growth, posed a challenge in finding skilled workers.

Action:

The PMMI U Skills Fund allowed Delta ModTech to sponsor several robotics teams at the FIRST® Robotics Competition in Minnesota this past March.

Delta ModTech

Team Armada from Stillwater, Minn.

These robotics competitions involve not only students interested in mechanical or electrical design/ programming, but they seek to create a real-world work environment by also integrating students with skills in photography, videography, writing, recruiting and other disciplines.

Result:

Team Armada did very well, having their best showing by placing seventh out of 63 teams.

By employing new, creative tactics to reach tomorrow’s workforce, such as sponsoring a robotics team, Delta ModTech is strengthening its manufacturing talent pool. The company is also open to taking these students as interns when they graduate from high school – as well as new teenage employees.

What You Can Do:

You too can support local robotics teams with the help of the PMMI Skills Fund.

Created by PMMI, the PMMI U Skills Fund is a resource intended to help you form meaningful partnerships with regional two- to four-year colleges, universities and/or technical/vocational schools, as well as other educational programs in your area.

The PMMI U Skills Fund will match your company’s contributions up to $50,000 per year to regional education programs of your choice.

Whether you partner with a school to help strengthen an industry related program or create a course, join forces with a STEM summer camp, coordinate a group of students to bring to PACK EXPO or choose to invest in the future workforce in multiple ways throughout the year, the PMMI U Skills Fund is here to assist you with the financial obligations that come from these types of initiatives.
