PACK EXPO to highlight technology innovations to address industry needs

Protein processors continue to navigate a challenging operating environment shaped by rising costs, shifting consumer buying behavior, persistent workforce shortages, and evolving production demands. These pressures are driving greater focus on automation, food safety, and sustainability as processors look for ways to improve efficiency and remain competitive as noted in PMMI’s 2026 Processing State of the Industry Report. Many of these challenges are not new. PMMI’s 2022 Meat, Poultry, Seafood & Alternative Proteins report identified inflation, rising food prices, and changing consumer purchasing patterns as significant industry concerns—issues that continue to influence the market today.
