Here's a completed additional analysis and estimate that U.S. exports of food processing and packaging machinery may face an additional $117 M in tariff costs into the EU based on $390 M in 2024 full-year data from USITC. Parts of food or drink manufacturing machinery of 8438.90 and Machinery for aerating beverages of 8422.30 account for more than half (or $62 M) of the potential tariff cost exposure if EU retaliation is implemented.
The first tariff package would go into effect on 7 August if the US and EU do not agree on a deal by 1 August. All of PMMI’s tariff codes under 8422 and 8438 are included in phase 1 and hit with a 30% tariff. Please see below an additional breakdown of the tariff cost analysis.
