Earlier today President Trump announced on Truth Social that starting 1 February imports from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Finland will be subject to an additional 10% tariff in response to their opposition of a US takeover of Greenland. If a deal for the US to purchase Greenland is not reached by 1 June, the tariff will increase to 25%.
An official executive order has not been published, and implementation details remain unclear, including which legal authority would be used, potential product exemptions, and if tariffs would be stacked on top of other tariff actions.
